OUR STORY

Scare Because We Care

Scare Because We Care is a 503c3 non-profit located in Black Hills, South Dakota. Scare Because We Scare Halloween ATV Ride was the idea of the youngest daughter of Mike and Lora Crouch. Mike and Lora Crouch was owner of M & L ATV Rentals in Lead.

Started in 2017 by a small group of dedicated individuals.  We put on a two night event with a Haunted Halloween ATV Ride. In 2017, we gave back to the Boys and Girls Club of Lead-Deadwood. In 2018, we donated 1,062 lbs of canned food to the Lord's Cupboard in Lead. We donated cash to Twin City Clothing Center and the Boys and Girls Club of Lead-Deadwood.

Lora passed away in 2019 due to cancer. Due to this, the event did not happen in 2019. Due to Covid in 2020, the event did not happen. 2021 event was scheduled but due to snow storm the event was canceled.

2022 we hit the ground running to get the event back up and running. We moved the location of the event to Mystic Hills Hideaway. Mystic Hills graciously donated their property and ATV for the ride. We classified the different props into different categories and gave prize money for the top 3 of each category.
